Dr. Rachel Dodds, a prominent figure in the sustainable tourism industry, embodies the convergence of adventure and activism. With a career spanning over 25 years, Rachel has championed sustainability, pushing the boundaries of the tourism industry’s perception and practices. As the Director of Sustaining Tourism and a Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, Rachel brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her endeavors.

From an early age, Rachel’s fascination with travel was fostered by prioritizing experiences over material possessions. This philosophy took her to over 80 countries, nurturing a deep connection to the environment and diverse cultures. Her passion for exploring the world is matched only by her commitment to protecting it, a principle instilled during her outdoor adventures across western Canada and the USA.

As an educator, Rachel strives to instill responsible tourism values in future generations. She has witnessed the evolution of sustainable tourism, from its early roots in ecotourism to the present focus on regenerative practices.
