Kingshuk Biswas, a distinguished member of the UNWTO panel of tourism experts, has dedicated his career to transforming the tourism industry through collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. His journey in the tourism sector began with a profound realization at the ‘ITB Berlin’ tourism fair, where diverse cultures, traditions, and even sports were promoted under the broad umbrella of tourism. This awakening ignited his belief in the power of joint responsibility and dynamic approaches within the tourism space.
Mr. Biswas’s pioneering projects exemplify the impact of such collaborations. The Modhera Sun Temple project in India, a successful model of sustainable tourism, showcases valuable partnerships between the Energy Department, Tourism Department, ASI, and District administration. This project resulted in India’s first integrated state-of-the-art Solar Rooftop Project, transforming the Modhera village into a self-reliant, self-sustainable, and responsible tourism destination.
